Layouts & Views
Build your ideal development view
Layouts let you combine project logs, browser panels, and AI agent terminals into a single view. Build your ideal workspace for any task.
What Goes in a Layout?
A layout panel can contain any of these:
- Project logs - Live output from your running processes
- Browser panels - Embedded browser for localhost or any URL
- AI agent terminals - Claude Code, Gemini CLI, or OpenAI Codex running interactively
Creating Layouts
Click the + button next to "Layouts" in the sidebar to create a new layout. You can start from scratch or use a layout preset that automatically arranges panels based on your projects.
Drag & Drop
Drag projects from the sidebar into your layout. Drop on edges to split a panel and create new columns or rows. Drop in the center to replace the current panel. Resize panels by dragging the dividers between them. You can also drag panel headers to rearrange panels within a layout.
Shared Projects Across Layouts
A project can appear in multiple layouts simultaneously. The project runs once, but its logs are visible in any layout that includes it.
This solves a common problem: when multiple frontends share the same backend API, you often lose track of where the backend is running. With Coda, add that backend to every layout where it's relevant. When you switch contexts, the API logs are right there.
